Catalin “Stendeck” Cioloca is a cofounder and Full Stack Engineer at Impact Labs.

His expertise in designing application architecture, training new developers, choosing the right technology and implementing new features helps ensure the web product has the maximum performance and user experience for the Impact Labs customer base.

Catalin has 10+ years of development experience, including high profile clients such as The Union of European Football Associations and Bild, a leading German newspaper. He and CEO, Jason Escamilla, have worked together for the better part of a decade on various projects.

His diverse talents and skills encompass: web development (almost all javascript frameworks), backend (NodeJs), mobile (React Native) and cloud/devops (AWS, Azure & DigitalOcean).

He is also part of the core team at Code for Romania, a nonprofit organization that creates software for Romanian society, centric to its needs. His project won the 1st prize: 2017 Awards for Civic Involvement.

In addition, he tutors junior students on emerging technologies and how to develop better code and, for seasoned developers, he keeps knowledge sharing sessions and workshops, for both front end and back end.

David has over 20 years of experience building teams and architecting highly distributed web-scale platforms for industries as diverse as mobile gaming and supply chain management.

As VP of Engineering at Active Index Advisors (AIA) he helped design the algorithm and create the platform that allowed the company to use software heuristics to rebalance customized index tracking portfolios, taking advantage of loss-harvesting opportunities, in order to beat their indexes on an after-tax basis. The use of software brought the kind of scale that allows for the democratization of these benefits, creating one of the first ‘robo-advisors’. Active Index Advisors was co-founded by Burton Malkiel and was subsequently acquired by Natixis Global Asset Management.

David has hired & managed teams and instituted agile development practices with a track record of meeting and exceeding business goals. He has expertise in relational and non-relational database systems, service-oriented architectures, enterprise messaging, open-source technologies, and creating systems that span multiple OS and programming languages.

Jason began working on sustainable/social-impact portfolios more than 20 years ago for universities, social & environmentally responsible mutual funds, endowments, churches, etc, as part of the Equity Team at Seneca Capital Management.

In addition to equity trading, research and portfolio management, he designed and led the build out of Seneca’s fully-integrated portfolio management software which allowed a small team to manage hundreds of individual portfolios, many of custom social-impact and/or tax-optimizing overlays. The team's assets grew from $1B to $10+ billion, with only a 50% increase in headcount.

Other expertise: multiple hedge fund styles: long-, short- and quant-strategies with an emphasis on deep-dive equity analysis. It is with this background and the increasing level of computing power and investment sophistication globally, that disabused him of the idea that anyone's socially-selective preferences alone could be used to outperform or underperform the market. Stated alternatively, swiping-left or swiping-right on 'Big Sugar' (underweighting or overweighting it in one's portfolio) should neither be considered an advantage nor disadvantage for a properly constructed portfolio.

Jay has served as Managing Director of Romherst Capital, a strategic advisory and capital raising firm for start-ups. Prior to that, Jay worked with Santander Global, Royal Bank of Scotland and Bank of America in various executive or strategic roles.

Michele is an advisor to Impact Labs Inc. She has 25+ years experience in the financial services industry, and has extensive knowledge in macro-economic trends and portfolio management. Michele’s career experience includes time spent at Tiger Management, Montgomery Securities, and Seneca Capital Management.
She a Portfolio Manager at IMPACT ADVISOR LLC, a registered investment advisor specializing in Socially-Selective Investing.
Michele received her bachelor’s degree in economics from Stanford University, where she also played on the women’s golf team. In her free time, Michele enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, playing tennis, and watching her son’s baseball games.

Tucker began his career more than 35 years ago at Morgan Stanley in institutional Equity Sales Trading as Senior Advisor/Business Development for ImpactAdvisor (IA), he work closely with IA portfolio managers creating investment products to assist with diversification of their fully customized and tax efficient portfolios.
